Prayer should be our solace despite the crises and challenges that we face in life,
Rev. Fr. Reynor Munsayac, O.P. said on the second fay of the Triduum mass on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Santisimo Rosario Parish.
In his homily, the mass presider said that people should turn to prayer in spite of crises to show God that He is still in control of our lives.
“Everytime na may mga crises [o] challenges tayong nararanasan sa ating panahon or even in our personal lives, wala na tayong ibang dapat gawin kundi lumuhod at manalangin.” Munsayac said.
Munsayac also mentioned the importance of praying “Our Father,” a prayer that Jesus Christ first taught to His disciples.
“This is the very prayer that Jesus Christ himself taught to His disciples,” he said. “Hanggang ngayon, tayong mga Kristiyano ay patuloy na dinadasal ang panalanging ito na itinuro satin ni Hesus.”
He added that love grows wherever God is, and that justice and peace prevails because of that love.
“Kung nasaan ang Panginoon, naroroon ang pag-ibig at doon naghahari ang pag-ibig, at kung may pag-ibig, naroroon ang hustisya. Kung nasaan ang hustisya, mayroong kapayapaan,” Munsayac added.
People have to discern the “signs of the times” to understand the occurrences within society, and a part of that “discernment” is the importance of learning.
Thomasians study as part of their lives as students, Munsayac said, and that we have to interpret what is happening in the light of faith.
He concluded his homily, reminding Thomasians to read on what is happening in our surroundings with our faith in order to bring out the truth, be stewards of God’s creation, and to be compassionate and merciful.
The theme of the Triduum and University Celebration in honor of Saint Thomas Aquinas is titled, “St. Thomas, a Witness to Truth and Justice for our time.”
